Finally, there is the time it takes to build a jewelry box. Crafters consider any time spent building or making crafts to be time well spent. If you’re not a hobbyist and just want to save money, then building a box may use valuable time you could put to a better use. With the rising cost of materials, building a box may not actually save you money, either.
Deciding Whether to Buy or Build a Jewelry Box
The choice is clear if you aren’t an experienced woodworker or fabric crafter: buy a jewelry box. It will save you time, money, and hassle. If you really want to make a box, you could buy one now and then take some woodworking or fabric crafting classes to learn how to build a jewelry box and other items.
If you are an experienced crafter, the choice is a bit tougher. For urgent jewelry box needs, like a birthday gift needed in a week, buying a box is the way to go. A homemade box would be more personal, but there may not be enough to time to make it properly. For personal boxes, you can spend as much time as you want making the box. If you don’t have a long list of crafts that have to come first, then building a jewelry box is the best choice for you.
