ombak is another alloy of copper and zinc created with different proportions of these metals than Pinchbeck and was also used to replace fine gold jewelry. Tombak is a metal alloy used specifically to mount Bohemian garnet jewelry primarily during the Regency and Victorian eras during the 1800s. Also called “garnet gold”, it too consists of a combination of zinc and copper like Pinchbeck, and when mixed in different percentages produces different colors. In this case it has more copper added thus producing a rosier hue to the finished metal. It is a superb imitation for fine gold jewelry and is very difficult to distinguish from rose gold wi
